Cost of the Program

What is the cost of the program?
PPP students pay for the program on a per unit basis, which is currently $1,473 a unit for the 2012-2013 academic year. All of our designated core classes are 4 units, so the cost of tuition for each class is around $5,892. Along with the per unit tuition, students are assessed laboratory and other fees, so for two classes, program costs will be around $13,100 a semester. To complete the entire core (9 classes), a student could expect to pay close to $60,000 in tuition-related expenses, when expected cost increases are taken into account..

I'm not from here. What is the typical cost of living in Los Angeles?
Living arrangements can vary quite a bit, but for the 2012-2013 academic year, the estimated cost of living in Los Angeles for an individual is $30,100 a year. This estimate includes room and board, transportation and personal expenses.

Is there financial aid available?
Because PPP students already have baccalaureate degrees, they are not eligible for grants or university scholarships. However, students are eligible for financial aid in the form of loans, if they have demonstrated need. The Financial Aid Office will help a PPP student obtain federally-sponsored low interest loans to the limit of a student's eligibility. Students in the program are considered graduate visitors at the university for academic purposes, but are considered undergraduates for financial aid purposes.

Most students utilize both Federal Stafford loans and private loans. Private loans can be used to cover the remainder of the educational expenses and living expenses.
