Sample Academic Schedule

While we work individually with each student to develop an appropriate academic plan, many students typically follow the academic plan listed below:

  Fall Spring Summer
Year One General Chemistry I
General Biology I
General Chemistry II
General Biology II
Physics for the Life Sciences I
Physics for the Life Sciences II
Year Two Organic Chemistry I
Molecular Principles of Biochemistry
Organic Chemistry II
and MCAT preparation *
MCAT Exam *
Initiate AMCAS application**

* Our students typically take the MCAT review class (Kaplan, Princetown Review etc.) early in the year (January through April) in which they plan to take the exam. While there are multiple test dates available, we recommend a sitting for the exam in late May, June or July.

**We recommend submission of the AMCAS application in early June.

Glide Year

The "glide year" accounts for the year-long medical school application process. It begins with the initiation of the AMCAS application to medical school and continues on until medical school instruction begins. During this time students may elect to take additional coursework such as Genetics or Physiology, which may be recommended or required by medical schools. Students also continue clinical volunteering and research, work, and visit and interview at medical schools.
