Review Course Subsidy

A $2,000 stipend is provided to students in good academic standing to enroll in a preparation class for the MCAT, DAT or GRE exam to help them in their applications to medical, dental and veterinary school. Kaplan, Princeton Review and Berkeley Review offer such preparatory classes in the Los Angeles area with typical costs of $1,500 to $1,900. Often, such classes are available near the USC campus with negotiated group discounts. Because many PPP students are usually preparing for the MCAT exam at the same time, they often sign up for courses together and then set up study groups.

Because the $2,000 subsidy will appear as a credit in a student's USC account, it is only available during a semester in which a student is enrolled in classes at USC. For most students the best time to obtain this subsidy will be in the fall semester of the second year. Students following an academic plan where they will not be in classes during the fall semester prior to the year when they intend to apply to medical, dental or veterinary school should consult with the PPP admissions coordinator.
