Short Bio
C.H. Mak graduated with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley in 1984 and earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Stanford University in 1988. After a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at U.C. Berkeley, Dr Mak joined the faculty at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, where he is currently full Professor of Chemistry. Prof Mak has more than 20 years of experience teaching chemistry, and he is the author of more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers. His research specialty is in the area of theoretical chemistry, specifically statistical mechanics, computations and molecular simulations. He has received numerous awards for his teaching and research, including the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award, the Dreyfus Foundation Teacher-Scholar Award, a Sloan Fellowship, the Teaching with Technology Prize at USC, and the USC Associates Award for Excellence in Teaching.
